OBTAINING TEETH FOR AKU RESEARCH

It would be really helpful for our research if we could obtain teeth from children and adults in people with AKU in the UK.

If anyone has recently had a tooth removed, can you let us know as this could be used for our research into Alkaptonuria and it would help to try and understand about how the pigmentation occurs in the body.  This may in turn help us understand how AKU damages joints.

If anybody has a tooth removed in the future, we would be keen to obtain these for our research.

We have permission from our research ethics committee to collect such samples.

Please contact Bev Hebden, Project Manager, on 0151 706 4387 who will make the arrangements for these to be collected.

Many thanks for your help and assistance.
