ALKAPTONURIA INFORMATION CENTRE ATTENDS BSR CONFERENCE
The Alkaptonuria Information Centre exhibited at the British Society for Rheumatology Annual Conference at the new Echo Arena and Convention Centre in Liverpool last week from 21st-25th April. The aim of exhibiting was to raise awareness about Alkaptonuria amongst Rheumatology professionals and to possibly identify new patients.
The conference attracted around 1500 delegates in total, and whilst the exhibition hall was quiet during the scientific sessions, it gradually got busier during the tea and coffee breaks and at lunchtimes.
We displayed a variety of AKU information including leaflets, posters, medical information, business cards and a video in order to make the stand visually attractive. We also had a new pop up stand. It wa very useful to attend as we encountered many doctors who hadn’t heard of Alkaptonuria, and even one who believed she may have an AKU Patient. We shall be attending more medical conferences over 2008 and will keep you informed as to how they went.
