The Foyle Foundation

The Foyle Foundation is an independent grant-making trust that is funding our PhD programme at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

The Foyle Foundation is an independent grantmaking trust that distributes grants to UK charities. Since it became operational in November 2001, the Foundation has disbursed £41.4M in grants (to the year ending June 2010).

The Foyle Foundation was formed to implement the terms of the will of the late Christina Foyle. She was the daughter of William Foyle who, with his brother, founded the family owned bookshop Foyles in Charing Cross Road, London, which she continued to manage after her father's death.

The Foundation is governed by a Board of Trustees who meet regularly throughout the year to consider applications and make decisions on grants. The Trustees are Michael Smith, Roy Amlot, Sir Peter Duffell and Kathryn Skoyles. The Chairman of the Board is Michael Smith. The Foundation's Chief Executive is David Hall.
